In a sentence, the subject must agree with the verb. Sometimes, it helps to read the sentence out loud to make sure that the subject agrees with the verb.

Examples:
The sun shines brightly.
The coyote yawns when it is tired.

Incorrect: The girls eats dinner. (The girls eat dinner.)
Incorrect: Dogs is good pets. (Dogs are good pets.)
Incorrect: The stars twinkles in the sky. (The stars twinkle in the sky.)
